From the New Year, the Sadar Zoo in Jawalakhel has started evening operations. Earlier, it was open from 10 AM to 5 PM, but now the closing time has been extended to 7 PM. There are also plans to further improve the facilities and keep the zoo open until 8 PM in the future.

This change mainly benefits local residents of Kathmandu and Lalitpur, office workers who finish after 5 PM, and young visitors who come to take photos and enjoy a walk. To make the visit more comfortable, the zoo has arranged parking area, seating areas for rest and a breastfeeding room in the zoo.

Visitors can access free drinking water, sit on the grounds, and enjoy snacks with friends and family. The zoo houses around 1,400 species of birds and mammals. The entry fee is Rs. 75 for children, Rs. 100 for senior citizens, Rs. 135 for students, and Rs. 200 for adults.

Special staff have been assigned for evening operations, and safety measures are in place. The management ensures smooth service without any lapses. This evening extension aims to provide more people with the opportunity to explore the zoo in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

 

नयाँ वर्षदेखि जावलाखेलस्थित सदर चिडियाखाना सन्ध्याकालीन रूपमा सञ्चालनमा आएको छ । अन्य समय बिहान १० देखि साँझ ५ बजेसम्म खुल्ने चिडियाखाना अहिले दुई घन्टा बढाइएर ७ बजेसम्म पुर्‍याइएको छ ।

विस्तारै पूर्वाधार तयार गर्दै चिडियाखानालाई ८ बजेसम्म सञ्चालन गर्ने योजनामा छौं। चिडियाखानामा विशेषगरी अहिले काठमाडौं, ललितपुरका स्थानीय, ५ बजेपछि अफिस सकिएका कर्मचारी र युवायुवतीहरू फोटो खिच्न तथा घुम्न आउने गरेका छन् । चिडियाखानामा घुम्न आउनेलाई सहज बनाउन बस्नका लागि फल्चा र शिशु स्तनपान कक्ष पार्किङ भएकोले मज्जाले घुम्न सकिन्छ ।

चिडियाखाना घुम्न आउनेका लागि निःशुल्क पानीको व्यवस्था, बस्नलाई चौर र साथी तथा परिवारसँग खाजा खानका लागि समेत स्थान रहेएको छ । ‘हामीसँग करिब १४ सय वटा चराचुरुंगी र स्तनधारी जीवजन्तुहरु छन् ।

चिडियाखाना अवलोकन गर्दा बालबालिकालाई ७५, ज्येष्ठ नागरिकलाई एक सय, विद्यार्थीलाई १३५ र वयस्कलाई २ सय रुपैयाँ शुल्क लाग्ने गरेको अफिस इन्चार्ज सत्य नारायण शाहले जानकारी दिए । ‘चिडियाखानालाई सन्ध्याकालिन रूपमा सञ्चालन गर्न कर्मचारी नै खटिएका छौं,’ उनी भन्छन्, ‘सुरक्षाको ग्यारेन्टी पनि दिएका छौं । व्यवस्थापनमा कुनै त्रुटि हुन दिएका छैनौं।’
