A female black panther rescued from Ilam was brought to the Central Zoo by the NTNC–Koshi Conservation Centre on Bhadra 17, 2082. Estimated to be around three years old, the animal arrived in stable condition and immediately underwent a comprehensive health assessment, followed by all necessary medical treatments. Black panthers, known for their rare melanistic coloration, are not a separate species but rather common leopards with an increased amount of dark pigment. In nature, they are often seen as symbols of strength, mystery, resilience, and adaptability that help them thrive as elusive top predators in dense forests.
After ensuring her health and stability, she was introduced to the public exhibition on Kartik 27, 2082. She continues to remain under close observation as her well-being and gradual adjustment to the new environment are carefully monitored
